The Woods Course
THE WOODS COURSE
The Woods Course was the first of the two courses built at Boca Woods Country Club.
It was designed by golf course architect, Joe Lee, who has designed over 200 world-class championship golf courses including the famous Blue Monster at the Doral Resort in Miami, Florida. The course is characterized by gentle doglegs, elevated, fast sloping greens and the strategic placement of numerous bunkers throughout its 18 broad fairways maintained in excellent condition.
The Woods course places a premium on distance control and accuracy at the approaches, as every green is elevated and closely guarded by bunkers and hazards that run throughout the course. All 18 holes on this championship track are an absolute gem for the avid golfer looking for a challenge.
The Woods Course Renovation and Reopening on December 8, 2024
The Woods renovation project has been an ambitious and transformative undertaking, delivered on time and within budget. The project, which began 9 months ago, aimed to enhance the course's playability, aesthetics, and infrastructure, ensuring a premier golfing experience for Members and guests.
Key highlights of the renovation include:
18 Redesigned Greens: Approximately 100,000 square feet of USGA greens. Improved Drainage System: Installation of 10 miles of drainage pipes for optimal course performance.
Expanded Tees and Bunkers: Nearly 100,000 square feet of new tees and 85,000 sq. ft. bunkers.
Extensive Grass Work: 64 acres of grass sprigs planted and 1.2 million square feet of sod laid around tees, greens, and bunkers.
Upgraded Cart Paths: Over 4 miles of 8-foot-wide brick-paved cart paths were constructed.
Expanded course yardage from 6,400 to over 7,000 yards, enhancing the challenge and versatility for players of all skill levels.
Landscaping and Tree Work: Over 75 trees successfully transplanted, with 100 additional trees added for visual enhancement, along with ongoing landscaping improvements.
Members can expect "winter rules" during the initial months post-opening, with ongoing maintenance to support the course's maturity.
The reopening of Woods symbolizes the culmination of careful planning, dedication, and innovation. This state-of-the-art renovation reaffirms Boca Woods’ commitment to providing an exceptional golfing environment for its Members and guests.
Course Highlights
Scorecard: The new scorecard showcases a carefully designed layout with six tee options, ranging from 4,527 yards (Green) to 7,043 yards (Black). The course offers a balance of challenges, catering to golfers of all skill levels, with a par of 72.
Course Map: The layout includes distinct yardages for each hole, highlighting a blend of long par-5s and technical par-3s to create an engaging golfing experience.
Signature Holes: Notable holes include the lengthy and strategic par-5s on Hole 2 (Black: 582 yards) and Hole 14 (Black: 542 yards), as well as the challenging par-3 on Hole 5, with precision required across 216 yards (Black).
